How to Get More Twitter Followers Using 5 Simple Systems

System #1 - Create Twitter Lists

Every social media platform has ONE goal in mind. Keep you on their platform as long as possible.

Because the longer you’re there, the more money they make.

I’m sure you’ve experienced the timewarp of hopping onto Twitter for a “quick minute” only to realize later that you’ve been there for over an hour.

That’s because the algorithm pushes content that they think will keep you engaged.

However, we’re not there to mindlessly scroll; we’re there to grow our brand and revenue.

That’s why I encourage you to create a strategically curated list.

Lists aren't affected by the algorithm and allow you to 10x the value you get, without spending hours on the platform.

To create your own, just click ‘Lists’ in the navigation bar, and add the accounts you want to keep up with.

System #2 - Engage With Top Accounts Daily

Twitter is a reciprocal platform.

And it doesn’t matter how impressive your tweets are, people won’t find you if you’re not interacting with others.

However, this doesn't mean you start randomly commenting on people's tweets...you want to be strategic.

I recommend engaging specifically with people that are influential in your industry or are related to your niche.

And I recommend you do it daily for 3 reasons:

• It gets your name and face in front of people daily

• You can slowly grow your network as top accounts recognize you

• It helps you build a habit of writing daily with real-time feedback

My favorite tool for this is BlackMagic. It allows you to create a list of accounts to engage with, as well as see any tweets you might have missed from them.

System #3 - Find 6-10 New Interesting People Each Week

Don't let your feed grow stagnant.

Make it a habit to build new connections and increase your surface area for luck, community, and growth.

There are millions of amazing people on Twitter, and you never know what could come from a new interaction.

Here's how I cultivate new relationships:

• Send personalized DMs

• Add value to their content via comments

• Hop on a Zoom call to exchange goals, stories, and advice

System #4 - Win on Twitter by Building Authority

The easiest way to stand out on Twitter is by becoming a go-to authority.

This builds trust with your audience and makes it easier for people to remember who you are.

This formula will help you build your reputation quickly: Experience + Value + Clarity

Here's how I did it on my Twitter:

• Experience: Shared my playbooks growing Herb to $9M+ and 14M people

• Value: Shared past playbooks, slides, emails

• Clarity: Shared everything with no fluff

System #5 - Use Strategic Content To Grow Your Following

Content cadence is important when it comes to Twitter.

Short tweets keep people engaged, but they won’t help you rapidly grow your following.

I went from 0 to 108,000 Twitter followers in 20 weeks by writing threads.

A few tips for nailing your threads:

• Pick a Niche - Mine is Founder Operating Systems

• Nail Your Hooks - 80% of success is the first sentence

• Copywriting is King - Write like you speak

(Bonus) System #6 - Own Your Audience

We’ve all heard the horror stories of influencers who have suddenly lost access to their accounts.

Although Twitter is an amazing place to grow your following, you are 100% at the mercy of the platform…

And they could decide on a whim to cancel your account.

That’s why you want to convert your “rented” audience into an “owned” audience as quickly as possible.

The best way to do this?

Start a newsletter (I use Beehiiv for my newsletter).
