The secret habit shared by the most successful entrepreneurs

6 free websites for learning new skills

All founders are unique.

Their routines, interests, and systems are distinct based on their individual personalities.

However, there’s one habit that’s pretty much universal across all successful founders…

They’re all voracious readers.

The average CEO of a Fortune 500 company reads 4 books PER MONTH.

Compare that to the average person, who barely manages to read a single book each year…

And it’s no wonder studies have shown that active readers are likely to make 5x more money than those who spend little or no time reading.

But it’s not just the act of reading words on a page that's such a game-changer…

It’s the ability to download insights from a master in a fraction of the time it took them to hone their craft.

I personally devote 4 hours a day to learning, and a big part of that is reading.

Whether it’s a book or audiobook, an expert thread or article, or a website that can teach me something new.

"In my whole life, I have known no wise people (over a broad subject matter area) who didn't read all the time -- none, zero."

- Charlie Munger (Vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, net worth $2.1 billion)

In today’s newsletter, I’m going to share with you 6 websites that I use to accelerate my learning and upgrade my skills.

The skills I’ve learned from these websites have made me a better founder and I’m confident they will do the same for you.

Let’s dive in 🪂

Product psychology has a massive impact on user retention.

That’s why UX and UI design are so important.

Growth.Design is all about crafting meaningful experiences at scale.

Grow your business and delight your customers.

It’s hands down my favorite website to master product psychology, and their case studies are incredibly insightful and a pleasure to read.

  • Level up your product skills

  • Learn about cognitive biases

  • Use psychology to build better products

Our brains are incredible supercomputers. But many of us never tap into our true mental potential.

Farnam Street is like a gym for your brain.

Helping you learn faster, think better, and make smart decisions.

  • Train your brain

  • Leverage mental models

  • Master the best of what other people have already figured out

Have you ever hit a brick wall when trying to get inspiration for a website, logo, or graphic?

Not anymore…

Dribbble is home to the world's leading design portfolios.

Whenever I need design inspiration I go to Dribbble.

You can connect with designers and hire them for any projects you have.

Dribbble is used by some of the world’s biggest compaines such as Apple, Airbnb, Facebook, Google and more to hire incredible talent.

Regardless of whether or not you need a designer, you should go check it out.

This is my favorite website on the internet.

Founder Harry Dry creates incredible bite-sized marketing case studies you can learn from.

But he doesn’t just use businesses in his case studies…

He teaches marketing lessons from pretty much any source - celebrities, sports teams, and more...

Which only helps solidify the concepts in your mind.

Harry’s a genius and his site is better than a marketing degree.

We’re all familiar with businesses like Dollar Shave Club and Allbirds, but many of us didn’t know they existed until they “made it big.”

NexxtBrand keeps track of up and coming Direct To Consumer brands from around the world, and their rankings are based on trackable metrics.

It’s an awesome place for you to study and get inspiration.

  • Learn from the best brands

  • Discover their business model

  • Study their copywriting and value proposition

First Round Review aspires to be the Harvard Business Review for startups…and it’s off to a great start.

While there is usually a lot of content out there on “what” startups are doing, there’s very little on “how” they’re doing it.

They’ve created a space where founders can learn how to build better companies by hearing directly from the people who are currently doing it.

It’s a great place to learn about product management, marketing, people, and culture from the very best.

Here are some of the things I’ve learned from their content:

  • Habits of high-impact managers

  • How to become insanely well-connected

  • Guidebooks for upping my management game

There you have it, 6 incredible websites where you can learn new skills and level up your game.

I hope you found these helpful.

Take some time this Monday to check out some of the sites, and hit me up on Twitter with which ones were your favorites.

Let's win together 🥇
